Go weather I have to see new “serious” DLP projector and the truth is that I expected something like that. The last time the market has been flooded by cheap DLP models (HD25 Optoma, BenQ 1070, etc.) and showed no company trying to penetrate the middle class of 2000 euros with some implementation of DLP. Many even believe that the DLP technology has reached its limits and does not have to offer something new, rather unfairly I might add. But is it so?

The answer will come then … for the moment let us xepaketaroyme the W7500

Presentation

I added what I see, because the W7500 is a faithful copy of W7000 that we present here at projectorjunkies in the past, at least as far as the outward appearance.

I spoke to several upgraded domains and does not hide the fact that my curiosity beat reds for this model, in fact the only new DLP in the middle class who could look in the eyes of the instant competition which goes by the name of camp TW9200 Epson LCD.

The w7500 makes use of the well-known chassis now that we all know in previous series and W7000 W6000. Dressed in “luxury” black lacquer shows like the previous series of serious construction that makes you glad to see him hanging on the ceiling and I’m sure that you will not create any problem “divorce” in the holder.

With available weight 6.7 kg and with base support points in very short distances will not to “sit” in any universal basis of trade.

Not to forget to mention that important trumps of W7500 is the three year warranty that gives the Agency and indeed the first time on site, i.e. coming to your place, getting, repair or replace your, and your return.

Also to say that according to the delegation the market price will be somewhere in 2,200 euros, thus probably see him in stores even more low price.

Let’s see a bit of it.

The W7500 makes use of the latest ‘ DMD DLP 0.65 DC3 (Finally we would say we) which has characteristics other than the slightly increased on/off contrast (10-15%), considerably higher ansi contrast which is the weapon of the DLP deployments. O color of wheel is 6 points with RGBRGB layout and 6X speed, which in itself means that topic rainbow phenomenon does not exist in this DLP projector.

The reportable brightness of 2000 ansi and communicate potential contrast in 60,000:1. O projector makes use of Philips lamp UHP 250/300W that from my own experience I say that it has one of the highest real life averages at the moment on the market. The BenQ Announces 2000/3000 hours on low and high mode.

Here to say that the design of the cooling system of the W7500 is filter free with the main Visual of sealed. In other words, the owner will not deal with ever changing or cleaning filter.

From inputs the projector is full and Pro features

Computer in (D-sub 15pin) x 1
HDMI (v1.4a) x 2
Composite Video in (RCA) x 1
S-Video in (Mini DIN 4pin) x 1
Component Video in x 1
USB (Type Mini B) x 1
DC 12V Trigger (3.5mm Jack) x 1
RS232 (DB-9pin) x 1

Let’s move on to see what new offers the W7500 compared to its predecessor according to BenQ.

Changes and additional elements are as follows:

  • New firmware
  • New frame interpolation algorithm
  • Contrast Ratio 60,000:1 (dynamic full on/off)
  • New 0.65 Darkchip 3
  • Redesigned lens
  • 2D to 3D Conversion
  • Cooling system redesign (which resulted in a slightly increased noise 35/31 dBA in Normal/Economic mode)

Finally to say your projector has horizontal and vertical lens shift with the known most lever next to the lens, which converts the positioning of our Breeze, other in sense, usability and construction does not claim credit (here I would an improvement over previous models).

Menu

The familiar from past W7500 ‘s menu is in favour of complete and highly functional. In addition to the classical regulatory W7500 the image has RGB full Color and Full management (CMS), sliders that actually work very well as we have been accustomed to the BenQ in previous deployments (W7000-W1070). In the settings submenu ISF Day and Night which will be extremely useful to those who want to go to a professional calibration.

Also of interest is the service menu of the projector you can hurt her all the “factory” prices and most importantly to “play” with the IRIS and the way it works, something I did and I’ll talk about it then.

Measurements

Next stop … “the very last drop out” or “naked” or whatever you want to say anyway the Inquisition a probolikoy under the truth serum of measuring instruments. After the projector “tabanwthike” started. To say that like sources I use media player WD Gen3 and quite possible my own HTPC.

To the first “problem” that I encountered was the abysmal projector light. I mention this as a problem, because if you have less than 120 inch screen and especially white, then things are difficult and for you and for your screen. The BenQ is accustomed to our headlights “bright cannons”, other that the projector brightness theme goes a step further.

The company announces 2000 lumen for W7500 and this is the first time that my measurements not only confirm this assertion, other somehow disprove with even larger numbers.

Just to say some numbers to understand what I mean.

Kalimprarismenos projector and with only 35 hours in the lamp, in opening 92-inch frame by 4 meters, gave me incredible numbers below.

cinema mode

Low lamp-lux-395 off Brilliant 912 lumen

High lamp-lux off Brilliant 489-1129 lumen

Low lamp-lux-472 on Brilliant 1090 lumen

High lamp-lux-596 on Brilliant 1376 lumen

And the full power of

Dynamic mode (akalimpraristos)

High lamp-lux-905 on Brilliant 2090 lumen!!!

Really talk to a projector “Cannon” from the subject brightness capable to fill any frame on any site without even sweating. Anyone who likes to watch 3D movies, sports events from high definition satellite receiver, are fond of games, raise to 120 inches and above or likes to watch movies and series in broad daylight in a room with lighted before think any projector market, should definitely take a look at W7500.

On the other hand, of course, binteoprobolakides with small frames like mine, have a serious matter because as you with 912 lumen on minimum brightness, viewing the movie after a long day of work say, is … extra “fatigue” and not rest as we would like or as expected.

The incredible case of however is, that despite the extreme brightness of the image without losing the high ansi contrast and 3D texture kontrastati. No veil does show and gradients of the image rendered with surgical precision although our screen is ready to “get Firefox”.

If you naturally want to see “human” in a frame of 100 inches for sure will have to somehow chalinagwgiseis the brightness of the projector to get as many people as possible what relaxing picture and as good as possible on/off contrast with fewer reflections space. It is best to replace the lamp with a used one that has over 2000 hours. Humor …

The solutions are the following

  • Grey screen with negative gain
  • Filter that cuts the rate of light (sold commercially, ND2, ND4, etc)
  • IRIS setting through the service menu (this solution followed us)

If you choose the dynamic black setting off from the projector’s menu (i.e. deactivate the dynamic IRIS), you can then go to service menu and set it to the value that you want to have the IRIS. In other words make the dynamic Iris in incremental and you can get just the light that covers the setup or that you have. I chose post 8 (default position 12) and “I” white brightness in tolerable 16fl so that I could judge his image projector with brightness within international standards.

It is understood that each setting is fully reversible with either the reset option or by manual selection of factory price.

Respectively adjust the IRIS and when we turned on with maximum and minimum price in order to get back the brightness you want (and black we want of course) for those who want to see dynamic Iris on. Not very involved but due to lack of time for both lengthy forays and chose the solution of “incremental” in order to make this review, without this meaning that does not testara and the dynamic IRIS to see her behavior with the factory settings.

The projector with fixed iris in box 8 and with brightness 16fl yielded on native/off measuring 1880:1, price is remarkably improved compared to its predecessor W7000 who in my respective 1036 measurement was performed: 1. An increase of almost 90%!

Cannot be quite sure whether this increase is due solely to the use of the dark chip 3, others I must say Bravo to BenQ for achieving the largest native on/off I’ve never counted on a projector and so much growth it achieved in relation to the model it replaces.

For the ansi contrast unfortunately I can’t have a value and the measurement is extremely difficult and can easily be an injustice or promote a projector. Were only observing the hardware to watch and will say more below.

Let’s see what showed the measurement kit I got from W7500 before and after. Calibration and measurements made in cinema mode.

RGB readings before

As you can see the projector comes much comes pretty well set to RGB and gamma from the factory and in substance it needs few clicks to show longer bodies and an excellent value. My impression did the gamma in post 2.4 on the menu and the same exact measurements and were reflected there. When I switched to 2.2, “pinned” in 2.2.

RGB readings after

The RGB sliders to W7500 is really magic. Every click makes it just that describes each slider. Excellent precision regulators who truly rejoice to the work. As you can see in the charts, and the searchlight gave an excellent measure, except 90 IRE where we see a deviation towards lower gamma characteristic “failing” that we have experienced before in other implementations. Here somewhere to explain that low readings 10 and 0 ire is not accurate, because of failure of the measuring instrument to correctly capture both small luminosities, so generally not taken into account.

Color measurements before

And here comes the W7500 adjusted quite well to the cinema mode with unique dissonance the over-saturated red. Here we must not forget that the lamp is almost new and has not yet paved. Certainly after the 80-90 hours will change spectral behavior.

Color measurements after

And here to say that the sliders of the CMS work flawlessly. Except the Red saturation slider that strangely listened too much to the smallest setting and your not allowed to arrive at the item you wanted. For the more sophisticated to say that the projector has two CMS in the service menu with much larger scale and precision sliders. However the projector color came and “sat” on easily.

Impressions

The measurements are always in a projective instrument tell half the truth. The other half lies in what the human eye perceives, our own eye. So I spent the W7500 really torture trying almost everything on it. Every known paternaki and every known movie scene passed again and again trying to draw safe conclusions as peiraza various sliders.

I will try on my impressions to make indirect comparisons with the sole opponent of W7500 in this price category the TW 9chchch series Epson always of course from my own perspective, because I know that several interested prospective owners.

First negative impression was the lens. The focus is not happy with and I wanted something better in this area. No apparent problem (the focus was the same around the frame) and while the letters in the menu of the projector “cleaned” in a very good grade, there was this shave in the picture that we have grown accustomed to the DLP deployments. On the other hand, this may be due and in signal processing and not exclusively in the lens. Like to have in the field definition not impressed to the extent expected and to the extent that they have grown accustomed to the DLP projectors.

To make it more understandable because it is terribly difficult to express with words something like that, I would say that the definition lies somewhere between pretty good sharpness of W7000-W1070 that I tried in the past and in that of the rival of Epson TW9200 that I saw in the report.

Second “disadvantage” is the modest black of the projector. You tell me what makes cat cat on the tiles I say now … and you are right. In this area the W7500 does not claim credit even though markedly improved from its predecessor can not if kontrarei straight in the rival camp of LCD and loses in State.

Another disadvantage and here somewhere will close the chapter “negative impressions” was and the light boiling I noticed in some scenes and reminded first-generation W5000 with old firmware. Talking about digital noise that makes his appearance in films so the otherwise have the so-called Speck, others to an extent greater than that usually seen in other models. What to say, perhaps correcting things in next firmware since the projector that I wore the first (1.01), but nevertheless is something that I wanted to say.

Somewhere there stop cons of W7500 and begin my impressions in other areas.

Colors

The W7500 like most DLP projectors actually performs exceptionally in this area. Colors in Movie scenes actually overflowing from the screen and offer a sense of satisfaction at our eye color really insatiable patent. If you come from older models DLP or LCD projectors and obtain the W7500, you must rewind from the beginning all the good pixar animated films or of pixelworks offering colors. In this area, literally pounced w7500 the competition.

The skin tones are absolutely natural and intermediate colour gradations are rampant. He spent the perfectly W7500 all known klipakia and even I must admit that impressed me particularly in the naturalness of imaging, epidermis there traditionally limp along the camps of SXRD LCOS/LCD/DLP and a variety of other implementations. I dare to say that in this field might surpass the King of skin tones, the Infocus IN8Ch (PA USA what we said … fall fire to burn)

Want the huge aperture ratio, i.e. the space occupied by the pixel on the Panel of the projector and thus of the sail (which reaches 95% on DLP versus the low 60-65% of the LCD) you want the optimum color fidelity, want the high ansi contrast, want a combination of past, the picture of W7500 gives a unique sense of solid image that makes you wonder if you see projector at 92 inches by 3 meters or 42ara plasma by 6 meters (without of course the black of the plasma).

In ansi contrast projector at least in my eyes is a click over the already very good ansi contrast of cheap models of the same company and of course the Optoma with dark chip 3 and this perhaps helps its awesome ability to “hiding” the impossibility of medium of black, like a great magician.

I saw black objects in imifwteines scenes that swear that touched or examined, and even a black DILA (and not saying DILA randomly, you’ll know at the end of the article …), which in fact was not. Just so aware of my eye the highest contrast of a given scene. Corresponding capacity are almost all DLP projectors, just the W7500 really go a step further in this area. After all, what counts most; what count measuring or what perceives our eye;

Motion and frame interpolation

Here to tell the truth and not my favorite area. I am among those who believe that any interference in 24 frames of film, although it improves movement, other destroys the cinematic sensation cholygoyntiani making the film evokes more with material pulled with the HD camera one apprentice stage Director for participation in local amateur video contest, despite big studio blockbuster cholygoyntiani. If put into the equation and the factor “artifacts” in the image displayed even more perfect when multiple implementation of frame interpolation Sony then I think you’ve fully justify this viewpoint.

W7500 brought me here maybe the biggest surprise of this review. Frame interpolation To the projector has three settings. Low, Medium and High. I started well with the setting to Low and I began to view known scenes with panarismata and with difficult areas like skyscrapers with many small Windows and other technical difficulties for the algorithm of frame interpolation. It did until today to show even the most fan of frame interpolation, why wouldn’t I ever on this option on my projector.

The first shock came, no artifact anywhere, when I say no, I speak neither suspicion! Put and again put tents as the first Dark night with buildings and was unable to believe what I was seeing. At the same time, not only was no trace other artifact and the move was wonderful with no trace of this famous binteilas that I described above.

Can not you, said from inside me, you spike me all my arguments with a, and does not pretend that somehow “I got angry” … e and not a little to deny … an electronic device for that matter …

I left the Medium position and put the slider of frame interpolation directly in High position.

Unfortunately (unfortunately for me is Yes, what to do) nor here managed to embarrass the algorithm. Any artifact and nowhere as desperately trying to see. But here at least the known binteila made her presence and with slightly reassured.

To say that this frame interpolation is the best implementation I’ve seen so far on any projector, any company, I don’t think it has any special meaning. To say that I do not want to see this film without the “magic” of Low W7500 ‘s statement did not expect ever to make … and “Unfortunately” the do.

Above “blamed” the W7500 lens for reduced according to tech data definition. What to say … There is another area that this lens gets perfectly and not to trelanw you, to explain myself.

I’m talking about the well-known phenomenon of color aberration. I tried the famous convergence tab and noticed that the problem seems like a convergence problem with shades of blue or red right or left of the vertical white lines, and they are almost pretty much all projectors regardless of technology was minimal as zero (although the termatismeno shift lens!). I can hardly remember another model that passes this paternaki so well. What I really can’t explain it and perhaps due to this particular piece because the W7500 not wearing any “fakoydara” konica minolta-say. In other words abyss inside a lens …

Also do I need to report and on the excellent color uniformity of projector. White tab all you see is an excellent, uniform white from side to side without the slightest hint of color differences. I spent all the tabs from the IRE white (100 ire) and black (0 ire) and not noticed any color cast in any point of the image.

Here to say that the chromatic uniformity by itself, is a powerful weapon of DLP versus LCD competition, facing a serious issue in this area because of the technology and implementation of complex optical LCD. A bad color uniformity literally destroys the projector and annihilates the calibration you have or intend to do.

At the end I let the dynamic iris of the projector. The truth is that I am not a fan of this technology and I love to see without the use of. Although these implementations exist, such as that of Sony for example which I have to admit that they belong to the so-called “invisible” irises and that does not bother even “weird” like me. The iris of W7500 is not aggressive. Does not turn to see the subtitles of the movie to blur or something similar and of course doesn’t work like “fwtorythmiko” as in implementations of Optoma (HD82-83, HD87).

On the other hand, the careful work done by people of BenQ so the IRIS not perceived by our eyes, does not necessarily lead to significant improvement in contrast. What to say, or not is purely a private matter. To talk about numbers on/off contrast with dynamic IRIS is akin to dupe you behind your back, that number and take with IRIS enabled, it will eventually get result in actual viewing films is # very near native (not misunderstood, there will be improvement in dark scenes with the use of the IRIS but not to the point that the crazy prices communicated).

I will say once again, people who still believe in numbers on/off which is less romantic.  So I’m not even bother to take such measurements now. These prices leave solely for the marketing of companies.

And some screenshots for the icing on the cake … and not to take safe conclusions.

3D

The truth is that I do not attract anything in this 3D technology and belong to the category of people who tire at incredible degree viewing 3D active glasses with the valve. I have seen several projectors to play 3D and noone can say I stood over 10 minutes of continuous viewing. Because I know that there are plenty of fans who say such technology will try to convey my impressions as objectively as possible.

Let’s start with the BenQ’s glasses that look much like quality construction and comes in a beautiful box with tray, cloth and manual. To their optical field is large, it is lightweight and feel like wearing just sunglasses and not Robocop’s glasses.

The glasses sync easy (.. and DLP Link) with the projector in pressing a small button on one of the two arms and xesygchronizoyn not ever, and struggled. They also have mini usb port for charging them.

For testing I used a HTPC with which I did playing pure 3D blu-ray. I chose the movie Avatar because it is one of the best implementations of 3D movie and some very beautiful clip of 3D hardware. The projector locked properly and once I chose from the menu of the 3D option on the view smoothly launched 3D hardware.

Here to say that activating the 3D projector, this automatically puts the able lamp high and brilliant color on, uses IE all his power!

Watching the first few scenes of Avatar took (or rather confirmed) through the first conclusion. The 3D needs light. Very light. Too much light. The more, the better. Even with the W7500 which is one of the brightest home cinema projectors that I have seen the light in 3D was marginally satisfactory and wouldn’t say no to 100-200 lumen above. The reason is that the glasses cut a huge part of brightness in all 3D projectors, around 70% would say. In other words, rule the higher brightness the projector turns us both better returns in 3D hardware.

I followed close on 2 hours of 3D material with some kind of micro breaks to be able to get any safe conclusions.

The biggest problem facing today’s 3D projectors is the presence of images in the image. The so-called crosstalk (ghosting image).  In W7500 not noticed it never and nowhere even if I tried, neither the image nor and in subtitles. In this area can be characterized as W7500 projector 3D crosstalk free.

Compared to other projectors, I would say that the 3D viewing is considerably more relaxed and there is the phenomenon of “almost understand the book opened the valve of glasses” that has puzzled me in the past. Of course this may be due and in glasses and not exclusively to the projector.

The depth was impressive in some cases and cut your breath. Particularly in a 3D universal clip that had as a matter of the universe, I caught myself many times to “avoid” meteors, comets and other stellar objects before I could think of is mirage.

No sat to do calibration in 3D mode of W7500 other I would not say that the projector was and completely else color. At least in my eyes the settings I made in 2D looked fine.

I tried the so-called side by side 3D playing mkv material through the WD media player and I can say that I was very satisfied. Naturally blu-ray’s overtaken other depth in many places that understand my eyes was compared with that of comfortable blu-ray.

Finally I did hardware tests by selecting 2D to 3D that is like the W7500 option in the menu. Really this was a pleasant surprise for me. Having previously seen corresponding 3D 2D implementations to the truth is that I was expecting something very “bad”. Not only was not evil, other extremely amusing, because I would start to test various movies from my collection and I must admit the incredibly entertained. Don’t expect depth and feeling genuine 3D blu-ray, others a good enough 3D feeling that it gives you a different perspective on movies I have seen several times and deserves to “play” by putting them into 3D mode. And here crosstalk phenomena nor funny of course.

As a conclusion I would say that the W7500 is one of the best choices that you can make today, whether you’re a fan of 3D, regardless of money. The great brightness and DLP technology are the two most important allies of hardware 3D views.

Conclusion

The W7500 is aimed purely at enthusiasts of the full-size image that they want something above and not limited in cheap chiliarikoy models in circulation. In this price category the W7500 plays exclusively alone in the camp of the DLP and kontraretai in the straight with the rival of LCD and specifically the Epson’s TW9XXX series. Also those who want to open many multiple inches or are fans of 3D (who notoriously DLP and light makes the difference) the W7500 is almost one-way traffic in this price category.

As regards sectors who wins and who loses areas compared to the rival camp of the LCD will say these, which is of course my personal opinion.

The black sector loses W7500, yielding lower native on/off contrast by TW9XXX (how will you say when you count the Epson) and of course in a field placement facilities and in this area the Epson is not played (larger Lens shift and zoom).

On the other hand the BenQ has much greater brightness than the opponent, several higher ansi contrast, demonstrates clearly better chromatic behavior of all LCD and takes the lead in sharpness and granularity. If we add to this the amazing frame interpolation that made me lose my sleep and childhood illnesses of LCD technology (color uniformity, poor convergence of panels, focus problems from model to model, etc.) that the W7500 has not, then clearly we are talking about the headlight dominant category (2,000 euros), which not only looks in the eyes of the competition but go a step further than him in overall performance.

Anyone who argues that the DLP died … would do well to take a look at W7500 and maybe reconsider.

Finally to thank the delegation of BenQ, Divitec, for the grant of the first w7500 who arrived in our country.
